ROOM DESIGN DIRECTION
What this is
A complete design direction for your room – bringing together layout, colour, materials and key pieces so the space works clearly and cohesively.
This is the creative stage of the design process. We establish what the room should look and feel like, how it should function, and the key decisions that will shape the finished space.
This may include new furniture, updated finishes and considered changes to the room itself – such as layout adjustments, built-in elements or light structural changes where needed.
What you’ll receive
- Layout and spatial direction
- Colour story and placement
- Material and finish direction
- Furniture direction and key pieces
- A cohesive visual plan for the room
- An annotated design board and layout
- One consolidated round of revisions following presentation
Key pieces may be specified directly where they are integral to the design. Other elements may remain directional at this stage and are finalised during Design Development & Specification.
How it works
We begin with a one-to-one brief to understand your space, how you want it to feel and what needs to change.
I then develop the overall room concept independently and present the design to you in a follow-up session.
One consolidated round of revisions is included so we can refine and agree the overall direction before moving into detailed specification.
What this stage doesn’t include
- Full sourcing and specification of every item
- Final room pricing and budget schedule
- Ordering or procurement
- Project management or site coordination
- Multiple redesigns or changes of brief
Important to know
Room Design Direction establishes the overall design and the key decisions for the space.
For clients who are happy to source and implement the design themselves, this may be all the direction you need.
If you would like me to take the design through to a fully resolved, purchasable scheme, the next stage is Design Development & Specification.
